We are facing an epidemic. The number of lives lost to heroin overdoses in Connecticut has increased exponentially over the past couple of years. Our little corner of Connecticut: New London County, has lost too many young people to this disease. We have only just begun to fight, but together we can move mountains. Visit our website for articles that illustrate that Community Speaks Out is committed to becoming a fixture in our community.

CSO is organized and operated to walk families through the process of getting addicted-family members into treatment through financial and logistical assistance, and to foster community support, awareness, and education on addiction and addiction prevention.

We were founded by four New London County residents in response to a lack of a support system in the community for families facing opioid/heroin addiction.

“My son lost his struggle with the disease of addiction. I am a broken mom on a mission to help others with similar struggles.

We have been in operation since 2015 and became a non-profit in 2016.  CSO has no paid employees, we are strictly made up of passionate and dedicated volunteers.  We are evolving every day to support what is currently needed to help those suffering from addiction and their families.  Continuum of care is crucial to maintaining recovery.  CSO is helping with sober living and is hoping to fund more recovery activities.
